Body:

Paul Barton has been announced as a recipient of the MIT Energy Initiative (MITEI) Seed Fund grant. These grants support early-stage innovative energy projects across MIT. A total of more than $1.6 million was awarded to 11 projects, selected out of a total of 49 proposals, which came from 65 faculty and research staff from 18 departments and labs across campus. He will be working with Siah Hong Tan to assess technologies at different scales to monetize natural gas under uncertain and dynamic conditions. Efficient algorithms will be developed in order to solve these problems, which typically have large dimensions. Such a framework would be useful for both feasibility studies and strategic planning among industry players who might be interested in monetizing natural gas in a novel and robust manner.
